COMPANY MILESTONES

We are shaped by years of experience

More than 20 years of experience on the market have given us valuable experience that has helped us grow into a strong partner providing comprehensive services in the field of contract manufacturing. We can confidently say that we can now reliably deliver any technical implementation – from idea to final product.

2005 – 2010: Beginnings of production focused on automotive

Spanner SK, k.s. was founded in 2005 in Považská Bystrica as a subsidiary of the German family company Otto Spanner GmbH, headquartered in Bayerbach, Federal Republic of Bavaria. We have thus become part of a successful group of medium-sized companies, associated in the Spanner Group, with more than 60 years of tradition in the engineering industry. The basis of production in the first years of operation was the production of pressed parts for the automotive segment. In 2008, in addition to the production of pressed parts, we began to deal with welding.

2011 – 2016: Welding comes to the fore

We created welding workshops where we produced boilers for our sister company Spanner Re2 GmbH. We gradually ended production for the automotive segment and the production capacities were fully focused on welding, which created production positions with higher added value. The production capacity of the welding shop was 2,500 boilers per year. A significant milestone was the year 2015, when we moved to our own premises with an area of 2,000 m2.

2016 – 2017: Years marked by fire and a strong will to rebuild the company

The year 2016 went down in the company’s history as one of the most challenging years, when a huge fire completely burning down the company’s production hall. In order to fulfill our obligations to customers, we temporarily resumed production in replacement premises within three weeks. Thanks to the strength, determination and help of the company’s partners, we managed to build a new hall on the site of the original building. Production in the new premises was resumed in September 2017.

“Eleven months after the fire broke out, we were back in the newly built original premises.” Patrik Lišaník, CEO

2018 – 2019: Investments in new technologies and systems

We focused on expanding our production portfolio and acquiring new customers on the German and Austrian markets, with which we had experience. We invested in new sheet metal processing technologies. We expanded our machine park with a Trumpf 1030 laser and a Trumpf 7036 press brake. These investments allowed us to quickly adapt production to individual technical requirements of customers, shorten delivery times and thus provide high reliability for larger orders.

The increase in production volume and diversification of the portfolio brought with it the need to introduce an internal production system that ensured better planning, increased quality and production volume, and also streamlined and standardized company processes.

2020 – 2021: Own disinfection products in the Spanner SK portfolio

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the entire industry, and it was during the corona crisis that the strength and determination of our team, which came together, was once again shown. In a record short time, we were the first in Slovakia to develop, manufacture and market disinfection gates, which helped dozens of healthcare facilities, hospitals and other industrial companies. We subsequently expanded our range to include a smart disinfection stand, with the aim of building increased hygiene standards and protecting people’s health. We received a Certificate for Research and Development issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic and an Award for Inventive Activity issued by the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic.

At the same time, we invested in welding automation and robotization in the form of two Valk Welding robotic welding stations. The result was an expansion of production capacities and the creation of new positions of welding operators and highly qualified programmers. We even increased the original number of welders and gave them the opportunity to participate in more demanding custom projects, where manual skill and expertise are key factors for success. Robotization brought us higher speed and ensured up to four times higher welding quality in the production of heat exchanger components.

2022 – 2023: Growth, innovation and renewable energy

In 2022, the ownership structure of the company changed, and CEO Patrik Lišaník took over the management. In the same year, we expanded the company premises with a new assembly and dispatch hall with an area of 1,100 m2. This was a strategic step by the company, with the aim of increasing the volume of manufactured production and increasing employment in our region.

Significant sources of investment went into the construction of local energy sources – a photovoltaic power plant and a biomass power plant. Thanks to them, we are able to produce our own electricity and heat for the needs of our operation. These steps allowed us to cover up to 45 – 55% of the required energy locally from green sources.

As part of production, we expanded the machine park with a new Trumpf TruBend 5130 press brake in the sheet metal processing department.

2024 – 2025: Education as the key to building talent

In 2024, we concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Secondary Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering in Považská Bystrica. Thanks to this, we became a key partner in building the Center of Excellence for Vocational Education and Training in the field of mechanical engineering, a modern facility for the education of new generations of mechanical engineers.

Significant investments were made in the automation of the warehouse system in the logistics department, the construction of a 3D measuring center in the quality department (FARO Technologies 3D measuring device) and in new technologies in the sheet metal processing departments (Trumpf TruLaser 3030 laser cutting center, Q-FIN F200XL deburring machine with extraction) and chip machining (ROMI C420 mechatronic lathe).

2026: We are building further milestones

Part of our growth is the education and development of our team. We are intensively engaged in research and development activities, including the development of our own products, production automation and the implementation of AI into company processes. We see innovation as a tool that allows us to keep pace with changes in the world and determine trends in the industry.
